PLANTATION, FL (August 17, 2010) – A memorial service was held Saturday for Alice Elizabeth Stejskal, 75, wife of Evangelical Covenant Church minister Arthur Stejskal. She died August 8.
Stejskal was born May 23, 1935, in Rudyard, Michigan. She graduated from the nursing school at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois. The couple was married on September 20, 1958.
The Stejskals served as missionaries with TEAM Missions in a variety of roles in Taiwan and the Philippines from 1959 to 1993. They were instrumental in founding the Tai Tung Christian Hospital in Taiwan.
When the couple returned to the United States, he served for six years as pastor of visitation and outreach at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton, Illinois. The couple subsequently moved to Florida, and he has continued to serve as pastor of seniors and congregational care at Rio Vista Community Church.
In addition to her husband, Stejskal is survived by two daughters, Gwenn McCulloch of Fort Lauderdale and Sharon McGill, serving at Morrison Academy in Taiwan.
The Covenant Village of Florida Harmonica Band played at the memorial service, which was held at the Rio Vista church.
