Memorial Service Conducted for Burton Swardstrom

NEWPORT BEACH, CA (September 6, 2011) – Covenant News Service has learned of the death of former Evangelical Covenant Church pastor Burton Swardstrom, 76, who died in June.

He was born in Chicago on June 11, 1935, and raised in Pasadena, California. He received his Bachelor of Arts at Wheaton College, his Masters of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary and North Park Theological Seminary.

He served First Covenant Church in Spokane, Washington; Martha Lake Covenant Church in Lynnwood, Washington; Rolling Hills Covenant Church in Rolling Hills Estates, California; and Loveland Covenant Church in Loveland, Colorado. He served on the denomination’s Executive Board and also served the Vineyard Fellowship in Palos Verdes, California.

He is survived by his wife, Hollie Swardstrom; three sons, Douglas Swardstrom, Jonathan Swardstrom, and Peter Swardstrom; and a daughter, Elisabeth “Lilly” Swardstrom.

A public memorial service was held July 2 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Redondo Beach, California.
