Covenanter DeLoach Begins Quest for Olympic Gold

LOVELAND, CO (August 6, 2012) – Janay DeLoach, who attends Crossroads Covenant Church, will begin her qualifying rounds for the women’s long jump at the Olympics on Tuesday.

The church will host a viewing party at noon on Tuesday to watch a live feed of the event. They will gather again at 1 p.m. on Wednesday to watch the finals.

Following the opening ceremonies, DeLoach wrote on her website, “I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. The Lord has blessed me so much and no other place in this world could have been more humbling than in the Olympic Stadium the moment those 7 athletes lit the Olympic torch.”

DeLoach earned her place on the team when she jumped a career best of 7.3 meters to place third overall at the U.S. Olympic Trials on July 1.

DeLoach earned a silver medal at the 2012 World Indoor Championships.
