Openings Remain for Crossing Borders SeminarOLYMPIA, WA (February 15, 2006) - John Perkins will be the keynote speaker at the Crossing Borders conference sponsored by the North Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church on March 4. The day-long conference will be held at Grace Covenant Church in Olympia. Others speakers will include a North Park University professor and several Covenant missionaries. Kazi Joshua, Dean of Multicultural Development and director of the Center for Justice at North Park Theological Seminary, will speak at the opening session. Covenant missionaries presenting seminars will be Tom Kelly (Mexico), Andy Larsen (Spain), Eugenio Restrepo (Spain), and Jon Robertson (Ecuador). Paul Metzger, the Multnomah Biblical Seminary professor of theology and culture and a member of First Covenant Church in Portland, Oregon, as well as others, will present seminars on issues of compassion and justice and cross-cultural community ministry. Worship at the opening session and at the dinner banquet will be led by Ted Yuen, worship pastor at McMinnville Covenant Church in McMinnville, Oregon. Perkins, who spoke last year at North Park University, is the president of the John M. Perkins Foundation for Reconciliation and Development of Jackson, Mississippi. For more than 40 years, he has spoken and written numerous books on holistic community development, racial reconciliation and leadership.
