Congo Fistula Care

In partnership with HEAL Africa, CWR is participating in this fistula project providing prevention, identification, repair, and reintegration. The goal of this project is to end the devastating affliction of obstetric and traumatic fistula for women in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Key components of this project include training health workers to assist women in childbirth, implementing awareness training and action plans to address the root causes of sexual violence, training and mobilizing local counselors to identify and treat sexual violence survivors, medically repair fistula, and provide survivors with integrated and holistic support services.

Cost Breakdown

$450 fistula repair surgery, care and transportation (approximate)
$100 safe motherhood program (training and other support)
