We have a wonderful lineup of keynote speakers to take us deeper into the scriptures so we can truly be “rooted” in Jesus Christ.
Kanyere Eaton is Pastor of Fellowship Covenant Church, an Evangelical church in the Bronx. Prior to becoming a congregational pastor, Kanyere served as Executive Director of The Sister Fund, a small, private foundation dedicated to the economic, social, political and spiritual empowerment of women and girls. With the express purpose of bringing women to voice, with her leadership, The Sister Fund has sponsored programs specifically designed for African American female executives, feminist theologians and women whose non-profit work supports fullness of life for women and girls. Kanyere has worked in both the public and private sectors as a social service professional, with backgrounds in early childhood education, substance abuse, direct service management and hunger prevention. As a minister and social worker, she emphasizes the inextricable correlation between the transformation of our communities and the holistic well-being of each member.
Judy Peterson is the campus pastor at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. She comes to this role after previously serving congregations in Madison, Wisconsin and Elgin, Illinois. Judy is passionate about communicating good news in everyday language and travels across the United States speaking to audiences about how to put feet to their faith. Her passion for walking it out took the form of walking across the United States for her internship toward her master of divinity degree at North Park Theological Seminary. While the walk across the United States is how Judy first received the name “walking pastor” it is her day to day desire to walk into the lives of others that continues to make the title well deserved.
Renée Stearns draws on her experience and passion as a Christian, attorney and mother of five, to speak on behalf of the children and their mothers she has met in her travels to World Vision projects in many countries. She is particularly passionate about helping women face the challenges of motherhood, whether living in the United States, or in the extreme poverty she sees in her travels around the world. Articulate and compassionate, Renée is a speaker with a gift for teaching. She says, “My desire is to help people see the world from God’s perspective, and to move them to do something about what they see.” She is active in church ministries, has written articles and Bible study curricula, and is frequently a guest speaker at conferences and retreats. She serves on the boards of a variety of Christian ministries, including the human-rights focused International Justice Mission, and Women’s Enterprises International, emphasizing the empowerment of impoverished women across the globe.
Bianca Juarez Olthoff is a writer and speaker who unabashedly stands before crowds of people and proclaims that she loves Jesus! She shares this brazenly because of what he has done in her own life. Bianca’s personal journey is pock-marked with holes of poverty, depression, and marginalization. It’s because of those life experiences that she claims, “I am the woman I am today because of God’s unyielding love.” Bianca spends most of her time as chief storyteller for the A21 Campaign, an organization committed to abolishing human trafficking. She also enjoys blogging about life, love, and the pursuit of Jesus. You can follow her blog at inthenameoflove.org. Bianca was a speaker at CHIC 2012. She is married to Matt and is blessed with two step-children.
