Bandages and Layettes

For over sixty-five years the women of the Covenant have rolled bandages and stitched layettes for Congolese hospitals. Congo Medical Ministries still desperately need a steady supply of strip bandages. The medical supplies sent to them provide incredible resources to the hospital staff. After a recent analysis of Congo Medical Ministries, it was concluded that we are indeed called to continue ministering in this way to our brothers and sisters in Congo.

“[Bob Andrews] and all hospital personnel at the Karawa Hospital were as excited as if they had received a load of gold. Everyone helped unload the truck and stacked the container-full of bandages into storage areas, to be divided and distributed…” – Corrine Johnson, describing the arrival of bandages

The value of the last shipment of bandages and other supplies ranged from $120,000 to $192,000 for the Congo Medical teams. If these were to be purchased commercially, they would be gauze type bandages that could only be used once. Furthermore, purchasing bandages would divert funds that are badly needed for medicines. The hospitals are eager for cotton bandage strips that can be sterilized and reused again and again.
