About Youth & Family Ministries
We
welcome all youth workers to this area of our website. We value you and
the youth you minister to. Thank you for your heart and willingness to
walk alongside youth and share with them in their spiritual journey!
Please know that we are praying for you and God's call on your life. It
is our desire to partner with and encourage youth workers from our
denomination all around the country. We gather youth workers yearly for
Youth Workers Connection (YWC). YWC 2007 will be held in Denver, CO.
The
department of Christian Formation walks alongside the churches and
conferences of the Evangelical Covenant Church to host a triennial
event for youth called CHIC (Covenant High In Christ). The dates for
CHIC 2009 are July 12-17, 2009 at the University of Tennessee in
Knoxville, TN. For more information about this ministry, please visit
the CHIC 2009 website, e-mail kjersten.jennings@covchurch.org, or call (800) 910-CHIC.
After
visiting with youth workers from around the country it was suggested
that we put together a Ministry Planning Tool (See resource section
below). These are available from the Covenant Resource Center at (800)
338-IDEA (4332) in print form or CD. GROW Commitment cards are also
available to help youth plan their spiritual goals for the coming year.
Need a speaker for an upcoming event or retreat? Check out the
Speaker Team brochure or call us for details at (773) 583-0220. Three
teams are available: "We're Here to Serve," "Rescue 101" or "Walk On."
May God richly bless you as you serve HIM.

Teenage Girls and Abuse
Wouldn’t it be Nice if Teenage Girls Only Needed….In a perfect world teenage girls would simply need their faith to navigate, make her way safely through the dangerous waters of teen life in pop culture. In today’s world your faith is constantly tested and called upon to put up or shut up. You live in a world that constantly communicates that casual sex, getting beat up or pushed around, and being verbally insulted is a normal and acceptable way of life for women and teenage girls. There is no concept of respect for your own body, mind and spirit. But, in the Body of Christ your life has endless value, beauty and worth, and it is your responsibility to care for it. You have the right and power to honor and protect yourself. Let us help you do just that.
