About

The Paul Carlson Partnership is a not-for-profit international aid and development organization that works closely with like-minded persons and organizations across North America. It is affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church through the ECC's compassionate outreach initiatives.

The PCP addresses three areas of urgent need: health, poverty, and education. We are committed to serving the poorest of the poor in the world, with a priority on Africa, Asia, and South America. Currently our focus is entirely on the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the future we expect to expand our work to another country, still to be chosen, while maintaining our commitment in Congo. While the Partnership provides immediate assistance as needed, we focus especially on long-term development and sustainability.

Partnerships are vital to our work. Partners in-country help assess needs and develop sustainable responses. Partners in North America--individuals, churches, other organizations, and foundations--bring financial resources and expertise in critical areas. 

The Paul Carlson Partnership honors the life and spirit of missionary doctor Paul E. Carlson, who served the people of northwest Congo in 1961 and 1963-64. In the Simba rebellion of 1964 he was killed by rebel soldiers after returning from safety to continue his care for the sick and wounded. Working together with local leaders and people, the Partnership develops projects, programs, and facilities consistent with the purposes to which Paul Carlson dedicated his life. The PCP has been deeply pleased to have the encouragement and involvement of the Carlson family; and Lois Carlson Bridges, widow of Paul Carlson, serves as an honorary member of the board of directors.

The Paul Carlson Medical Program, Inc., doing business as the Paul Carlson Partnership, is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in the state of Illinois.
